PERSONAL BACKGROUND:
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the product of a blue-collar family whose great-grandparents were European immigrants to the United States in the early 1900s. I was surrounded by hard working, honest and decent people who were able to work for one company, with only a high school education for most of their lives, at an income that met most of their needs, and a guaranteed pension that allowed for retirement at age 65 for the rest of their lives.
Fortunately for me, I was able to attend college due to government grants, scholarships and work/study jobs I held. While I did not have a clear vision at the time of what I wanted to do, I knew I had to finish my degree in order to be able to move away from a region in the country whose main industries were slowly fading away and those things made available to my parents and grandparents were not going to exist much longer.
It was early on in my career that I recognized the importance of having role models and coaches in my life who guided me, saw my potential, and helped get me to the next levels in my personal and professional journeys.
As your Coach, I will dedicate my time to helping you through TES’ proven process over the last 40 years to understand what is your Career 2.0 destiny and how we can achieve it together.
I currently reside in Miami, FL after a lifetime of living in places like Houston, Chicago, Dallas, Mexico City and even Spain. I remain a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoy spending time with my family and friends whenever and wherever possible.
PROFESSIONAL AND COACHING EXPERIENCE:
I graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in the late 1980’s and shortly thereafter, moved to South Florida to pursue career possibilities in a part of country which was growing and provided greater opportunities. At the time, the telecommunications industry was starting to flourish due to government implemented deregulation as well as a shift towards more of a global economy.
My first managers and coaches, with whom I remain close with today, not only taught me the required product knowledge and sales skills I needed, but how to develop my own set of interpersonal and leadership skills which has become the foundation for the rest of my career.
I spent most of my career with AT&T, advancing quickly and leading large sales and services teams in Chicago and Mexico City focused on telecom and technology services. I was able to round out my career at our Dallas HQ office, managing our advertising business DirecTV Latin America, which gave me an incredible chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn an entirely new aspect of our business while still working for the same company. I was able to formally retire at an early age from AT&T after 25 years and now I am excited to share my career coaching skills in a different manner with individuals from all over the the USA and Canada to help you as you consider your Career 2.0 options.
